Accessibility Statement

Last updated: May 28, 2026

Our Commitment

The County of San Mateo is committed to ensuring that smcfairfunding.org is accessible to people of all abilities, including those who rely on assistive technologies such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, voice recognition software, and keyboard-only navigation. We strive to provide an inclusive online experience and to follow nationally recognized accessibility standards.

Conformance Standard

This site is designed to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 (opens in new tab) Level A and Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities and more usable for everyone.

Measures Taken

As part of our Select ADA accessibility program, Fruition has performed an automated and manual code-level review of this website and remediated identified WCAG 2.2 Level A and AA violations directly in the website source code. The remediation work included, but was not limited to:

  • Adding a visible “Skip to main content” link on every page for keyboard users.
  • Wrapping page content in semantic <main>, <nav>, and section landmarks with accessible names.
  • Ensuring form fields have programmatically associated, visible labels.
  • Marking decorative icons, arrows, and ordinal numbers as hidden from assistive technology.
  • Improving color contrast ratios for body text, captions, secondary text, and form borders.
  • Adding visible focus indicators on all interactive controls.
  • Providing clear “opens in new tab” cues on external links and document links.
  • Announcing dynamic content changes (search results, errors, pagination state) via ARIA live regions.
  • Respecting prefers-reduced-motion for users sensitive to motion.
  • Making interactive targets meet minimum 24×24 CSS pixel target size (WCAG 2.2 SC 2.5.8).

Known Limitations

Some content on this site links to third-party documents (PDFs, news articles) and external websites that we do not directly control. We cannot guarantee the accessibility of those linked resources. If you need an accessible version of any linked document, please contact us using the information below and we will provide an alternative format whenever possible.

Feedback and Contact

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of this site. If you encounter accessibility barriers, have suggestions for improvement, or need an accessible alternative to any content published here, please contact the County of San Mateo:

When reporting an issue, please describe the page you were on, the assistive technology or browser you were using, and the nature of the barrier so we can address it as quickly as possible.

Scope of This Statement

This statement applies to the public pages of smcfairfunding.org. It does not cover linked or embedded documents (including PDFs, Word documents, and spreadsheets), live user testing, or the issuance of a Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT).
